Coinbase has rolled out a major upgrade to its Solana (SOL) handling capabilities, increasing throughput by 5X and implementing new fail-safes to bolster system resilience. This move comes as Solana experiences unprecedented transaction volumes—10X higher than usual—leading to delays in deposits and withdrawals earlier this year. The upgrade aims to accommodate growing activity on the network, particularly as SOL dominates April with record-breaking outflows and ETF-related momentum builds.

Coinbase Upgrades Solana Handling Amid ETF Momentum

Coinbase has announced a 5X upgrade for Solana’s throughput, including fail-safes to improve system resilience. This comes after a period of heavy transaction congestion where Solana transaction volume was 10X the norm, exposing system limitations. The upgrade aims to handle rising Solana activity with fewer delays. In January, users faced delays in deposits and withdrawals due to the high transaction volume.

SOL Dominates April with Record Outcomes and Major Updates

Solana (SOL) reached a new monthly high of $136, up 6% in a single day, overtaking other major coins. The launch of Canada’s first Solana staking ETFs boosted demand and network activity. Additionally, Coinbase rolled out major infrastructure upgrades, making Solana 5 times faster for transactions and 4 times better in RPC performance. SOL now dominates 70.4% of all app performance in the crypto market, far ahead of Ethereum and BNB. Latency issues from earlier this year have been fixed, making the network more reliable for users and builders.
